Onsite Art Workshops (Arte Ambulante)

Arte Ambulante, or traveling art, is an art program designed to bring Mexican art and culture into a classroom or community.  Arte Ambulante workshops consist of a slide lecture followed by an art activity.  Art projects are designed for all ages and usually last about one hour.  The workshop fees range from $250 to $400 per group (no more than 30 participants), depending on complexity of project, and include all art materials and additional teacher resources.  Workshops may be tailored for larger audiences or lecture presentations.  If grant support is available, a sliding scale may be applied based on school need.

Popular workshops include:

To make such arrangements, please call a museum educator at least three weeks in advance.

Lecture Presentations

Museum educators can bring colorful objects and bright slide presentations into a K-12 classroom to either introduce students to a specific cultural topic or offer an in-depth look into a cultural or artistic concept taught in the classroom.   Lecture presentation fees range from $100 to $250.  To make arrangements for a customized presentation, please call a museum educator at least three weeks in advance.  Popular presentations have included: Day of the Dead, African Presence in Mexico, Mexican Independence, Mexican Muralists, Frida & Diego, Mexican Festivals and Celebrations.
