JOB DESCRIPTION: Development Manager - Individual Giving & Special Events

POSITION SUMMARY: The Development Manager - Individual Giving & Special Events is responsible for the stewardship and donor engagement process for individual supporters of the National Museum of Mexican Art, as well as creating and implementing new engagement opportunities. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and is part of the development team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Events 

  • Provide direct support on event logistics, and revenue and expense management for fundraising events that include the annual Gala and others.
  • Responsibilities include assistance with guest management, silent auction management, sponsorship sales tracking, materials development and others.
  • Recruit, track and manage volunteers for special events

Individual Giving/Annual Fund

  • Spearhead individual giving program and related campaigns
  • Handle gift processing, including thank you letters, creating and maintaining donor records, and matching donations
  • Implement annual appeal efforts
  • Implements overarching stewardship strategy, ensuring donors are actively stewarded from point of organizational entry through engagement with individual gifts 

Prospecting

  • Prepare background briefings on guests and participants for development events and similar activities.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from a two/four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of fundraising or direct sales experience
  • Track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals
  • Experience working directly with donors/customers
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills with all levels of staff, prospects, volunteers and donors
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to initiate and follow-through on opportunities to engage with volunteers and donors
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work flexible hours for various fundraising events

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the arts and/or philanthropic landscape
  • A strong background in non-profit fundraising and development
  • Experience using donor relationship management software
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • A passion for donor stewardship
  • Ability to self-start and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to work efficiently and reliably in a team atmosphere
  • Flexibility and good decision-making skills
  • Capacity to create positive relationships and work in a diverse environment
