Arte Ambulante, or traveling art, brings Mexican art and culture into a classroom, organization or community.  Arte Ambulante workshops consist of a slide lecture followed by an art activity.  Art projects are designed for all ages and usually last about one hour.  Workshop fees range from $300 to $400 per group (no more than 30 participants), depending on complexity of project, and include all art materials and additional teacher resources.  Workshops may be tailored for larger audiences or lecture presentations.  If grant support is available, a sliding scale may be applied based on school need.

Popular workshops include:

  • Masks
  • Amate paper painting
  • Aztec codex (ancient indigenous pictograph)
  • Retablos & ex-votos (altars, votives)
  • Day of the Dead ofrendas and altars

To make such arrangements, please call a museum educator at least three weeks in advance.
