Cuerdas Clasicas

Cuerdas Clasicas is a not-for-profit organization that constantly promotes the Latin American culture through their music. The group manages to extract the best of the National (Mexican) and international music and masterpieces. To achieve these great goals, this group coordinates the talent of youths who are interested in expanding their knowledge in music and representing traditions to our community. It does this in two ways: it helps youths to develop their talent in string instruments but most importantly, it preserves cultural values that are passed down through generations for the community. The founder of the organization is Rodolfo Hernandez, who in 1976, gathered together a group of youths whose only medium was their instruments and their desire to elevate the arts.

This concert is part of the Sor Juana Festival, which serves to honor one of Mexico’s greatest writers, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, as well as to celebrate and showcase the rich artistic accomplishments of Mexican women from Mexico and the United States. The Festival also honors Mexican women leaders as a testimony to the enduring spirit of Sor Juana.
