¡Live at the Mil Recuerdos Lounge! is a rollicking evening featuring Performance Writer, Denise Chávez reading from her new novel, The King and Queen of Comezón. Set in the town of Comezón "Itch" New Mexico at the town's favorite cantina, the pachanga takes place between Cinco de Mayo and Sixteenth of September.

The Mil Recuerdos Lounge is a metaphor for the fiesta of life and its denizens are people we know and love. It is a place where people come to relax, dispel fear, and interact with one another. It is also a place to hide, a place to escape as much as it is a place in which to celebrate and to dance. It is a fiesta in and unto itself. And yes, it is a place to slow dance with yourself or someone else while you seek that happiness—that comezón—that is always just out of reach.

Denise Chávez, is a performance writer, novelist, playwright, teacher and cultural activist based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. A true child of La Frontera, Chávez is the author of A Taco TestimonyLoving Pedro InfanteFace of An AngelThe Last of the Menu Girls, and La Mujer Que Sabía El Idioma de Los Animales/The Woman Who Knew the Language of the Animals
