Formed in the summer of 2016, the Music of the Americas Ensemble (MAE) is dedicated to exploring and performing music written by composers from both the Americas and Europe. This Chicago-based group aims to serve Latino communities by providing an educational and musically satisfying experience through performer-audience interaction.
The four founding members of MAE are a diverse group of professional musicians. Violist Ariel Garcia is a native of Chicago's La Villita and Pilsen neighborhoods. Flutist Nicaulis Alliey and violinist Jose Angel Escalona Alvarado both hail from Venezuela. Cellist Francisco Lopez Malespin was born and raised in Brazil. Each musician has had extensive training and performance experience which provides for a unique group sound.
