Alfredo Zalce was a painter, sculptor, engraver, and muralist. As a participant of the nationalist efforts in Mexico, he worked as an art teacher through the Secretaría de Educación Pública (Secretariat of Public Education) and painted several murals in public schools. Zalce was also a member of Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists) and the Taller de Gráfica Popular (Popular Graphic Art Workshop).
