Tina Modotti was a photographer, model, actor, and political activist. In Mexico City, she opened a portrait studio with the photographer Edward Weston. While in Mexico, Modotti befriended the Riveras, other avant-garde artists and intellectuals, and photographed important figures, people and places of Mexico. Her time in Mexico was during the cultural renaissance that followed the Mexican Revolution.
