Day of the Dead Quilts Workshop

Join us for a Quiltmaking Workshop with Maria G. Herrera, assisted by Stitches of the Soul, the quilting and fiber art group of the NMMA.  In this workshop, students will create a Day of the Dead quilt using a skull template to make their own 8” x 10” quilt. Techniques used in the project include appliqué, embroidery, and free motion on a sewing machine. No prior experience is needed. Maria G. Herrera has been a part of the quilting group Stitches of the Soul / Las Puntadas del Alma at the NMMA since 2008. She has exhibited in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Philadelphia. Her work has been included in the Quilts Around the WorldThe President’s House catalog, and The Quilters Newsletter Magazine.
