Carmen Lomas Garza is a Chicana visual narrative artist. Inspired by the Chicano Movement of the 1960’s and her own memories growing up in Texas, she creates images of everyday life and experiences for Mexican Americans that aim to resonate or educate. In the 1970s she participated in two important Tejano art collectives, Con Safos and Los Quemados.  The NMMA hosted her solo exhibition, Carmen Lomas Garza: Pedacito de mi Corazón in 1991.
