Guillermo Gómez-Peña is a writer, activist, and performance artist whose work transcends an array of borders. His artistic practice addresses and critiques themes of immigration, colonialism, and technologies. In 1992, the NMMA hosted Gómez-Peña and Coco Fusco’s, The Year of the White Bear, a multifaceted project that explored and interrogated the 500th anniversary of the encounter of the Americas.
