María and Jacobo Ángeles founded their workshop in 1994 in San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, building on generations of traditional woodcarving. Together, they create intricate Tonas and Nahuales carved from copal wood and decorated with designs inspired by Mesoamerican symbols and traditional textiles. Rooted in Oaxacan culture, community, and sustainability, their work has gained international recognition and is featured in major public and private collections around the world.
The workshop supports artisans and young people throughout the Ocotlán Valley while promoting environmental responsibility, cultural pride, and the preservation of Zapotec artistic traditions for future generations.
