Josefina Aguilar is a ceramicist from Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca. As a member of the Aguilar family, she continues her family’s tradition in this art form by making muñecas (small clay figurines). Her works depict everyday pueblo life, religious and folkloric figures, as well as Day of the Dead statues, many of which have been featured in NMMA’s annual Día de muertos exhibitions.
