Renato Esquivel is a mixed media artist. His works often combine seemingly contrasting fragments such as European Renaissance with Pre-Columbian iconography, or images of Pop culture with abstraction to create a unique visual language. These juxtapositions between various artistic movements and mediums allow for these artistic elements to be in conversation with one another and can be emblematic of the mestizo (mixed race) culture throughout Mexican communities.
