Bellas de Noche Film Screening & Q&A

April 15, 2023, 6:00 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

"Bellas de Noche", a documentary by María José Cuevas, begins 40 years after the show ended. Filmed over eight years, thus allowing for a bond to develop between the filmmaker and vedettes, who were some of the most iconic variety stars in the 70s and 80s in Mexico.

From naked bodies to naked souls.. , this film is the unfiltered portrait of five women: Lynn May, Olga Breeskin, Rossy Mendoza, Princess Yamal and Wanda Seux who crossed the night towards other possibilities of beauty, always maintaining their independence and freedom. "Bellas de Noche" is an inspiring film and a celebration of life through the lens of women.

In the documentary Bellas de Noche, Maria Jose Cuevas takes us into the lives of Mexico’s most famous vedettes (cabaret artists): Lynn May, Olga Breeskin, Rossy Mendoza, and La Princesa Yamal. Film director Maria Jose Cuevas will join us along with Lynn May to discuss the film and talk about the vedette movement of the 60s and 70s on Mexican culture.

This film will be screened in Spanish. Subtitles will be available in English.
