Born in Kingsville, Texas, Lomas Garza’s personal experiences provide a backdrop for her poetic recollections of family events, communal gatherings and cultural practices within her Mexican-American heritage. Guided by memory her monitos, or little people paintings, blend fact and fiction with a unique personal aesthetic to enlighten, instruct and awaken values and emotions common to people of all cultures.
