Film Screening: La Cocina

October 21, 2024, 6:30 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

The National Museum of Mexican Art and the Chicago International Film Festival co-present a screening of La Cocina. Join us for this poignant film about the often-invisible immigrants whose unrelenting work in kitchens feeds this country’s voracious appetite. Follow along as tensions run high for line cook Pedro (Raúl Briones), a zealous dreamer with a knack for making trouble, who is already on thin ice in a bustling Times Square kitchen. As Pedro spirals out of control, he threatens to take the whole kitchen down with him. La Cocina is a daring, tragic ode to the folly of the American Dream. Don’t miss this free screening! This film is in English and Spanish with subtitles.
