HANAL PIXÁN Food for the Souls (Día de los muertos)

September 14 – December 16, 2012

Ofrendas, installations, and works of art created by Mexican artists from both sides of the border, invite us to celebrate life by taking a look at death. Explore the ancient ways and traditions of Hanal Pixán (“Food for the Souls” in the Maya language) from the Yucatan Peninsula, to the family offerings created in the United States, in which remembering and honoring our ancestors continue being important. The past and present fuse to keep alive this significant celebration.
