Listos para el museo: Going to the Guelaguetza

September 20, 2025, 12:30 – 1:30 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

Join us for an interactive bilingual experience created especially for families with young children. Together, we will explore the joy and meaning of the Guelaguetza, a vibrant Indigenous celebration that honors reciprocity, helping, and community care. This family-friendly workshop includes:

  • A short, age-appropriate introduction to the Guelaguetza using music and colorful visuals
  • A bilingual read-aloud of We’re Going to the Guelaguetza / Vamos a la Guelaguetza
  • An opportunity to joyfully learn and try the Flor de Piña dance
  • A simple take-home craft that invites children to reflect on how they can give, help, and share with others

The event will be presented in both English and Spanish. It is ideal for children in PreK through early elementary school, and babies and older siblings are also welcome.

This workshop is free, but registration is required. Email angela@nationalmuseumofmexicanart.org to register.
