NMMA’s Nuestras Historias Residency Program is accepting applications from Chicago Public Schools teachers to participate in our 2026/2027 school-year cohorts. This unique opportunity invites educators to collaborate with a teaching artist from the Museum to co-create an arts-integrated lesson and host an artist-in-residence in their classroom. Help bring art and culture to life for your students—apply today!
Program format and participation perks:
- Learn teaching methods for integrating art into your curriculum.
- Create a Lesson plan integrating your Art Residency into your curriculum.
- Choose a class theme and art medium with your teaching artist that aligns with your classroom curriculum. - Participate in four Saturday morning Professional Development workshops - 2 Virtual & 2 On-site at the NMMA (Materials & CPDUs total of 10 hours included).
- Teaching artists will come into your classroom to teach a hands-on art workshop for about 8 sessions.
- All art materials are provided.
- Get one NMMA field trip for your classroom, including a tour of Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Permanent Collection and bus transportation, is included.
- Sign up for either Cohort 1- Late August - December or Cohort 2- January - May.
