Ojitos Tapatíos

Jamex and Einar de la Torre were born in Guadalajara but have spent most of their lives on the Tijuana-San Diego border. Their unique style of combining the sagrado and the profane, the traditional and the rascuache, the unorthodox and the cultura popular, reflects the insider/outsider life on the border of these two brothers. Their glass, mixed-media sculptures fuse ancient indigenous iconography, doble sentido mexicano and contemporary issues to produce hybrid objects that speak to us in more than two languages.
