Opening Reception

April 11, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

The National Museum of Mexican Art is pleased to announce our next exhibitions Puntadas del Alma, Told Through Quilts and El Arte de lo Pequeño. Join us on Friday, April 11th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for a special opening reception.

Puntadas del Alma (Stitches of the Soul) is a collective of women who come together to share stories and create quilts. Through sewing, embroidery, beading, and storytelling—traditionally seen as "craft"—Puntadas del Alma challenges the conventional boundaries by redefining their intricate, generationally rooted work as fiber art. In their practice, the lines between craft and art blur, and their creations become powerful expressions of memory, resilience, and shared humanity. Visit the Xicágo Gallery to see this beautiful exhibition.

El Arte de lo Pequeño showcases a unique slice of our collection. It brings together artwork in small format and works with minuscule iconography. Each piece, with its delicate strokes, intentional use of remnants, and meditative moments, offers a fascinating glimpse into the breadth of Mexican art. See the exhibition in the Rubin & Paula Torres Gallery.
