The National Museum of Mexican Art presents Sonido Fest 2026 on Saturday, August 15!
Happening in the heart of Chicago’s historic Pilsen neighborhood, Sonido Fest is a free outdoor music festival showcasing the artists shaping today’s musical landscape. By bringing together established performers, emerging talent, and local favorites, Sonido Fest creates a space where artists and audiences connect through their love of live music, culture, and community.
This year, we are pleased to present:
Surely Tempo
Surely Tempo is a five-piece indie rock band from Santa Ana, California. Since forming in 2020, they’ve built a loyal following through energetic live shows, millions of streams, and national touring. The band has sold out notable Southern California venues, toured with Enjambre, and continues to gain momentum with their latest album, Against All Odds, and their new 2026 release, Mr. Metronome.
Niko Rubio
Niko Rubio is a Mexican-Salvadorian-American singer-songwriter blending indie pop, alternative rock, and Latin influences into a sound all her own. After earning millions of streams and performing at festivals like Lollapalooza and BottleRock, she has also written for artists including Gwen Stefani, Anuel AA, and The Warning. Following her Spanish-language EP Mar y Tierra, Niko continues to celebrate culture, identity, and modern Latina experiences through her music.
Selines
Selines is a Bronx-born, Mexican-American singer-songwriter whose bilingual music blends intimate storytelling with dreamy indie-folk soundscapes. Drawing from her experiences growing up between cultures, her songs explore identity, love, and belonging with striking honesty. Following her acclaimed debut Circo de Amor, Selines continues to captivate audiences with Nostalgia, a deeply personal album that reflects her roots, her community, and her evolution as one of indie music’s most compelling new voices.
Los Aptos
Los Aptos is a trio from Fort Wayne, Indiana, redefining música mexicana with a blend of regional Mexican, alternative rock, pop, soul, and R&B influences. Known for their breakout hit “Enamorado,” they have performed at major festivals including Lollapalooza and Coachella while helping shape the next generation of the genre.
Dromedarios Mágicos
Dromedarios Mágicos is the project of Chihuahua-based singer-songwriter Diego Puerta, a pioneer of Mexico’s “folk de alcoba” movement. Since 2014, he has evolved from intimate guitar-driven songs into a genre-spanning sound showcased across multiple EPs and albums. His music has led to collaborations with artists including José Madero, Gera MX, Ed Maverick, and Alex Cuba, and has earned him tours throughout Mexico, Spain, Japan, Brazil, the United States, and across Latin America.
Tala Silva
Tala Silva is a Chicago-based Filipina-American artist blending indie pop, alternative R&B, neo-soul, and house into a dreamy, genre-bending sound. Known for her soothing vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and lush production, she has earned recognition from Spotify, Fashionably Early, and These Days Mag, with her single “Call Back” landing on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist. Creating music from her home studio, Tala continues to emerge as one of Chicago’s most promising indie voices.
JESSE
Jesse is a Mexican-American singer-songwriter from the Chicago suburbs whose bilingual music blends pop, Latin, and R&B influences. Through her expressive songwriting and contemporary sound, she explores themes of identity, womanhood, ambition, and self-discovery. Since releasing her debut EP CENIT in 2019, Jesse has continued to evolve her sound while building a dedicated audience drawn to her honest songwriting and genre-blending style.
Destiny Ron
Destiny Ron is a Chicago-born singer-songwriter with Mexican and Greek roots, raised in the nearby suburb of Waukegan. Drawing on her rich cultural background, she blends Regional Mexican music with indie, pop, EDM, and other contemporary influences to create a sound uniquely her own.
Weather Policy: This outdoor event will take place rain or shine and will comply with City of Chicago safety guidelines. Activities may be paused, delayed, or canceled in the event of severe weather, including lightning, high winds, or extreme heat.
