X as Intersection: Lines of Descent

This program brings Santa Barraza, Marcus X. Chormicle, and Shizu Saldamando in conversation to explore how they examine questions of lineage within their creative practices. Whether through the reclamation of ancestors across time, the depiction of community, or the close examination of family histories, each of these artists offers a generative approach to tracing and redefining the contours of belonging.

This conversation will be co-moderated by Cesáreo Moreno, Visual Arts Director and Chief Curator at National Museum of Mexican Art, and Mary Thomas, Deputy Director, US Latinx Art Forum.
