Celebrating 8 Years of Mariachi Sirenas
Join us in celebrating Mariachi Sirenas, Chicago’s first all-women mariachi ensemble, as they commemorate eight incredible years of bringing the music of mariachi to the forefront and to new generations. Through their passion and artistry, Mariachi Sirenas continues to inspire audiences, uplift voices, and share the rich culture and enduring legacy of mariachi music. With a deep dedication to honoring legendary composers and introducing fresh perspectives to this timeless tradition, they are helping to shape the future of mariachi while preserving its roots.
About Mariachi Sirenas
Mariachi Sirenas is proud to represent the genre of mariachi music in the windy city. As Chicago’s First All-Women Mariachi, they are honored to be a part of a community of strong women working together to promote the folkloric arts of Latin America.
Mariachi Sirenas was founded by members Ibet Herrera and Eréndira Izguerra, both of whom dreamed of bringing women together for the art of mariachi music in their hometown.
¡Que viva la mujer y nuestra tradición Mexicana, si señor...a!
This event is in collaboration with IIbet Herrera, a Chicago native who discovered her passion for mariachi at 15 and has been dedicated to the art ever since. Committed to uplifting women in music, she co-founded Mariachi Sirenas in 2017, Chicago’s first all-women mariachi, creating a platform to bring female musicians to the forefront. Under her leadership, Mariachi Sirenas has performed with top-tier artists and continues to expand its impact beyond music, inspiring the next generation of women in mariachi.
