Late Wednesdays: March

March 4, 2026, 5:00 – 8:00 pm National Museum of Mexican Art

Join us for the next Late Wednesday, when we’ll be open until 8:00 pm. Enjoy the Museum after hours with extended access to the galleries and gift shop. Stroll through current exhibitions, pick up a unique gift, and take in the art in a more relaxed setting.

This month, we’re pleased to offer a free guided tour of Rieles y Raíces: Traqueros in Chicago and the Midwest at 6:00 pm, led by exhibition co-curator Ismael Cuevas, MA. Cuevas will guide visitors through the gallery, sharing insights into the exhibition’s development and the powerful history it explores. More than a century has passed since the first wave of Mexican immigrants arrived in Chicago—many directly recruited by railroad companies that helped establish the city’s prominence. However, the history of Mexican and Mexican American traqueros in the Midwest has long been overlooked.

NMMA is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible experience for all our visitors. Check out a free sensory kit designed for guests with autism and sensory sensitivities at the reception desk. Visual descriptions of Nuestras Historias: Stories of Mexican Identity from the Permanent Collection are also available for free. These descriptions enable visitors who are blind or have low vision to experience the works in the gallery through detailed descriptions of color, composition, style, and other visual elements. Visit the reception desk, where a staff member will be glad to help you check them out. Visit our website to learn more about our Accessibility offerings.
